Ireland Genealogy pension application site adds more records

A message from the Ireland Genealogy data supplier, formerly known as "Pensear":

Over 6000 new records containing census details have been uploaded and added to the Ireland Genealogy database at www.ireland-genealogy.com.

The summary of counties which are contained within the new records are :

Antrim, Armagh, Clare, Cavan, Clare, Cork, Donegal, Down, Fermanagh, Kildare, Kings, Leitrim, Limerick, Londonderry, Longford, Tyrone

More records will be added shortly.

COMMENT:  The site hosts records that were transcribed from Irish pension applications from 1908 (though mainly from 1914-1922), where the information used for the application was originally extracted from the 1841 and 1851 censuses (which were subsequently destroyed). This collection contains material that differs from that found on Ancestry, also stated to be pension applications utilising census data, but gathered from different sources (Claire Santry has a good guide on this at www.irish-genealogy-toolkit.com/irish-pension-records.html which I cite in my new Irish book with some further details on online availability for the records, which can be found on many websites).

Unfortunately, the announcement from Ireland Genealogy gives no detail whatsoever as to what the new records are - I have emailed them, and if I get any further details I will bring it to this post in an update.

(With thanks to Ireland Genealogy)

Chris
